CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: Principal
Site: East Clayton ES
Term: 12 months
Grade: 56
KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs the lighter/heavier manual tasks in the cleaning of school buildings and grounds, including stripping, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors. Dusts and rearranges furniture in the area.
- Arranges and moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, including from one area to another.
- Scrubs and cleans bathroom fixtures, replenishes supplies, empties wastebaskets and receptacles into larger container.
- Keeps the building and grounds clean of paper and other litter affecting appearance and sanitation.
- Cleans sidewalks, grounds, mows grass, edges walks and fences, trims shrubs in season.
- Reports in writing to supervisor any damages or need for repairs.
- Required to attend scheduled workshops and seminars to increase job efficiency and skills.
- Develops the knowledge of safety hazards, rules, regulations and assist in the implementation of the safety program/precautions.
- Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organization core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
- Must be able and willing to work in a variety of settings.
- Must be willing and able to commute to a variety of schools/locations within the school district on a routine basis
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or to 25 pounds of force constantly to move object.
- Must be able to climb ladder and be capable of traveling through needed crawlspace area.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three years of previous custodial experience
- Ability to accept direction from a variety of individuals and to be flexible in day-to-day assignments
